Sohar University Wins the First Place in the Third Volleyball Tournament for Higher Education Institutions

Sohar University won the first place in the third Volleyball Tournament for Higher Institutions, held on May 11-12, 2018 at the Sports Complex in Sohar. The event was sponsored by Professor Barry Winn, VC of Sohar University, with the presence of Dr. Hamdan Al-Fazzari, Deputy VC for Resources, as well as university students and others interested in sports activities. The aim of the event was to enhance the talents of students in the field of sports, instill the spirit of competition in them, and provide opportunities for volleyball fans to practice their talents.
Five teams participated in the tournament: Sohar University, Shinas College of Technology, Al Musanna College of Technology, the International Maritime College in Sohar and the Gulf College in Muscat. The opening match was between Sohar University Team and the International Maritime College Team and ended with the victory of Sohar University 2 – 0. The following match was between the Shinas College of Technology Team and the Gulf College Team and the former won 2 – 0.
Then, the International Maritime College Team played against the Al Musanna College of Technology Team in the third game and won 2 -0. After that match, the team of Al Musanna College of Technology withdrew from the competition.
Then, the Shinas College of Technology Team played against the Gulf College Team and won 2 – 0, to play after that the Gulf College Team against Sohar University Team and the latter wins 2 – 0.
The Oman Maritime College Team played against Gulf College Team and won 2 – 1.
By the end of the competition, Sohar University Team won the first place, while the Shinas College of Technology Team came in the second place, the International Maritime College Team in the third place and the Gulf College Team in the fourth place.
The player Mohammed Al Baloushi won the best player award, Waqas Al Qassimi won the Best Defender Award, Houd Al Kiyoumi won the fourth best place award, and Ibrahim Al Muzaini won the Player of the Year Award.
